Change 4 Life Durham Dash! will have the support of the “Special Constabulary Mini Police” managing the on route pedestrian crossing during event time.

Dash! Safety Officer John Davidson is working with PC Craig Johnson in drawing up plans for the day when the school children (accompanied by adult and or parent) will be guiding the Dash! family and friends around the Dash! arenas in Durham and on Thursday 16th at Hardwick Park & Hotel.

PC Craig Johnson said: “last year was exciting for the children to be involved in our first Durham Dash!, but with the word out & about we have lots of applicant Mini Police officers and have had to limit the number of officers on Patrol to 12 for each event; enlisting the help of our mini police force makes a huge difference when we need to make our city safe for everyone. We have noted that on other events such as tackling dangerous driving and parking the Mini Police initiative really does make motorists take notice”.
